Observer 50 albums that changed music

Every so often (and with ever increasing frequency) someone comes up with a Top 50 list, or Greatest "whatever" of the Last Century type thing. These lists always provoke huge debate as my top 50 "whatever" is going to be vastly different from many other peoples. That is what I love so much about music and any other art form. The fact that everyone is different and likes things for different reasons.

The Observer list is quite interesting and worth a read.

The ensuing debate often gets nasty and can descend into a real troll fest (as the above mentioned list did in this thread on KvR.

But they are interesting nonetheless and it's good to see a list that doesn't pander to current trends too much. Many of the Channel 4 "Top 100" shows seem to acknowledge late 20th century artists over the significantly more important earlier 20th century counterparts. But hey, there I go, letting my personal opinion get the better of me ;o)
