Daily Rant
Ok, the first "blog" entry detailing the events of my day.
Monday, Monday....first day back after a weekend that saw the confirmation of mine and Jackie's suspicions that we are expecting our second child together !!
Called my parents and sister to tell them the good news. Mum said "Make sure you don't lose your job", Dad said "You'll have to have that "thing" cut off now" and my sister was over the moon. Nice to know your parents are overjoyed at having a second grandchild !! Thanks and love to my sister Gemma for being the supportive one xx
Work was shite as usual. A day full of appointments and only one sale. Two clients never showed up, two said they wanted time to think about it, one said they didn't want to renew their account and one client bought. Still, I had no contact from my boss which was a plus. His legendary de-motivational skills were kept to himself. Just as well, as the days events were demotivational enough on their own. Driving round the gorgeous North Norfolk countryside was a bonus. Maybe one day we'll move up the road to this fantastic part of the world.
I've been put on a "Personal Improvement Plan" at work, due to some average sales figures these past few months. I shouldn't feel too bad tho' as most of my colleagues are in the same position now. We are just feeling the brunt of some heat from upstairs, directed towards our boss, and he is now filtering it down to us. Typically, it will be us that suffer and lose our jobs if things don't pick up, not his fat arse. What these businesses don't seem to realise is that you can only sell so much to so many people unless you con them into buying more than they need. We're constantly being told that we should sell to our buyers needs, but then we are chastised if we don't sell enough quantities and revenues. If 5 people only need one product at £100, and that's what you sell, then you have sold to their needs, but what they actually want is for us to sell them 2 products at £1000, regardless of need. They set their targets accordingly which keeps the shareholders happy and the workers miserable. Typical corporate wank !
My little girl is standing on her own for longer periods now. Almost 10 seconds a time. Won't be long and she'll be walking. Jackie visited the doctor today to get the pregnancy ball rolling. Looking forward to the scans. Maybe this time we will get these new fangled 3d scans. That would be rather sweet.
Highlight of my day (apart from seeing my daughter) was getting this blog set up and being sent an update to one of my favourite pieces of music software, the rather splendid Zero-X Seamless Looper V 1.4. This great bit of kit detects looping points in samples, allowing you to effectively create sustain loops for use in compiling sampled instruments. Wow, how geeky was that !!
Well, 1st "Daily Events" post. Here's to me keeping my discipline and posting more.
