Daily Rant 3
Yet another hum drum day. Only two more days to go till a welcome 3 day weekend. A few more weeks and I've got a week off !
Well, apart from a typical day at work, I had my hopes raised last night by an email from a recruitment consultant telling me he had some "interesting positions" that I'd be interested in. As requested, I sent him my CV and told him the sort of thing I was looking for i.e. training, coaching etc.
After my first appointment, there was a message on my phone from the same recruitment consultant who said he had something right up my street. I hurriedly called him back and he proceeded to ask me a bunch of questions that were easily answered if he had taken the time to read my feckin' CV !!! He then said that the role he had was a sales role, the exact type of job I want to get out of !!!
He said he'd keep my details on file.....
Another email tonight saying my "skills and experience" weren't up to the level required by another employer and the same ol' phrase, "We'll keep your details on file..."
How on earth is anyone supposed to get experience ?!?! When Zurich took me on in my role as an IT trainer, I had ZERO experience, but the HR manager saw the potential, both on my CV and from my interview, and took a chance. I turned out to be a big success and got financially rewarded for being so. I was the happiest I've ever been in a job and that is all I want to do.....
I'll keep plugging on.
Received a copy of a Sega Saturn game today that I won on eBay. I must admit, I'm a sucker for classic video games and I'm going thru a bit of a retro phase right now. The game is Virtual On, a legendary Japanese title that is essentially robot fighting ! Great fun. Still looking out for a copy of Panzer Dragoon Saga for Sega Saturn that isn't selling for silly money.
Getting excited now as Star Wars Episode III: Revenge Of The Sith is due in about 3 weeks. I still get excited about these films, as excited as I was when I first saw the original Episode IV back in '77. I can remember how I felt back then and whenever I'm sat in a cinema and the words come up "A long time ago....", I regress back to a kid !!
Chelsea v Liverpool ended up in a 0-0, and my money is still on Chelsea winning. West Brom drew 1-1 last night, meaning that Norwich, WBA and Palace are all on 30 points, seperated only on goal difference. This is getting too damned close !
Found out today that I can vote in the General Election after all, as my details are still logged under my old address on the Electoral Register. Just means a drive across the city on May 5th.
